Fractionated Stereotactic Radiosurgery/FSRS for patients with brain or skull-based tumors that are too large to safely undergo single fraction radiosurgery, an alternative to conventional radiotherapy is FSRS. This technique employs extreme precision of setup treatment with live real time CT scan verification prior to treatment. However, when tumors are too large for single fraction treatment a series of daily treatments given over a 1-to-5-week interval can be safely administered with a high degree of tumor control. This treatment will limit the amount of unwanted radiation to the surrounding normal tissue. This can be particularly beneficial in treating tumors in-and-around the brain.
